Healthier Options to Order at Starbucks

I always brew my own coffee at home but when I DO go to Starbucks, I stare mindlessly at all the options and never know what to get!  I don't know about you but I’d rather get my fill of calories by treating myself to Mexican food and a margarita or some delicious desserts instead of drinking it in the form of a latte so some thought goes into what I order!!  Trying to pick something that's a healthier option is always tricky so instead of going in blind and feeling like the regulars in line behind me are breathing down my neck, I talked with a manager for some ideas and here is a list of 5 healthier options to keep you on track!  I decided to stick with hot options since fall is right around the corner and we'll do some cold options next spring!

1. Brewed Tea or CoffeeObviously plain tea (0 calories) or coffee (5 calories) is going to be the best option because it doesn't have anything added.  You could put in some stevia to add some sweetness to it without adding any calories and call it good!  I could drink this at home easily though so I'd prefer a less boring option BUT wanted to share if you're in a rush and just need an easy option on the go!

2. Caffe Americano: This option is my FAVORITE one!!!  Coming in at just 5 calories per shot of espresso this is your next best option!  So if you get a tall Americano that would be just 10 calories. If you're a boss and can drink it plain, good for you!  I need some sweetener so my go to order is a tall Americano with coconut milk and 2 stevia packets!  Delish!

3. Nonfat Cappuccino: 60 calories. Cappuccino is an espresso-based drink with 1/3 espresso, 1/3 steamed milk, and 1/3 wet foamed milk.

4. Nonfat Caffe Latte: 60 calories.  Latte's are also made with espresso and hot steamed milk, but they're milkier than a cappuccino.

5. Skinny Vanilla Latte: 100 calories.  Other skinny drinks like the skinny cinnamon dolce are also better choices under 200 calories.

When ordering just keep in mind when you swap a nut milk instead of 2% milk you shave 90 calories off and stay away from syrups and whipped cream unless you're wanting to treat yourself!  As for sweetness, stevia and monk fruit are your best options as they don't add any calories but unlike splenda and sweet-n-low, they are all natural!

Oh, and in case you were unaware, friends, September 29th is National Coffee Day, so now we're armed with knowledge and can order with confidence without holding up the line!

What about you? What is your favorite thing to order??  Do you drink coffee as a necessity, an indulgence or just not at all?

If you visit Starbucks more often than I do you can also click below to download the app that lets you order on the way, pay with your phone, track Stars and Rewards, find stores, and even identify songs they play in the store if you want to add them to your spotify playlist!  CHEERS friends!!  Have an amazing weekend!!

TODAY, a limited batch of vegan Pumpkin Spice Shakeology is available for purchase.
Yes, you read that right -- Pumpkin Spice Shakeology!

A coffee shop pumpkin spice latte can cost you over 380 calories, 50+ grams of fat and it has very limited nutritional value.

Best of all, you can drink Shakeology every day. It’s part of a healthy routine that helps fill any nutritional gaps and properly nourish your body.

Pumpkin Spice Shakeology is also one of the best ways to invest in your health during one of the busiest times of the year.  With kids back in school, work commitments, and the weather getting cooler, Shakeology gives you those crucial nutrients you need to be fueled and ready to take on your day.

Each package will contain 14 servings and there is a 5 box limit per order (20 order max per account).  There will only be ONE run of this flavor and once it sells out - its gone for good so TAKE ADVANTAGE TODAY!

Edible Cookie Dough

Let’s be honest, nothing tastes as good as real cookie dough!  I could literally sit down with a spoon and eat it from the bowl, or pre packaged roll...I'm not picky!

But we all know we can't indulge in that too often (how dare you say not at all!) so a substitute that's similar to yummy cookie dough is a winner in my book!

Although, let’s not call this a substitute, because there's nothing like the real thing...let’s call it a healthstitute... AKA a healthier option to the original foods you love!

So here is a healthstitute dessert for your sweet tooth or it makes a perfect after school snack for the kids!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp coconut flour (I added 1/2 a scoop of vanilla superfoods instead to give it a kick of veggies and up the health value!  This is optional but email or comment below if you'd like details about it!)
  • 3 Tbsp coconut oil
  • 3 Tbsp maple sugar
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 3 Tbsp unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/4 tsp fine grain sea salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips  (dark chocolate is best!)
Optional: We thought the consistency needed to be a little smoother so we added a spoonful of peanut butter and thought that was exactly what it needed!  Try it first and then decide!

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients, leaving out chocolate chips, and mix well until a smooth dough forms.
  2. Stir in the chocolate chips to combine, then chill the dough for at least 15 minutes for ideal texture - I prefer this cookie dough after it chills for about an hour!
  3. Roll into balls or eat with a spoon! Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, or freeze to keep longer. Enjoy!

Let me know if you have any questions!!  XOXO

2B Mindset

“I’m going to help you win the weight-loss battle once and for all!”

It’s not a diet. It’s a mindset.
But make no mistake, the 2B Mindset can help you lose weight — happily — without feeling deprived or hungry, without exercising, without counting calories, or cutting out whole food groups.  Did you hear that?  Carbs are allowed, wine is allowed, dessert is allowed...dessert and wine are food groups, right?!?
The 2B Mindset addresses the number one issue with weight loss and weight management — food. Exercise is critical for living a healthy, functional life, but as they say, abs are made in the kitchen — and that’s the problem Ilana designed the 2B Mindset to solve.  She has lost over 100 pounds with this program and knows what it's like to loose weight and keep it off!
You see, I love fitness.  But nutrition?  Let me stick to my freedom please.  I've found whenever I try to stick to any sort of "rules" I first feel like I better eat and drink everything I love in the house the night before I start...BINGE on it all...wine, dessert, carbs...let me eat it all before I'm not allowed the next day...have you been there?   Then I can stick to the rules for a while, see results, and then I'm DONE and eat it all again out of anger and tell myself how ridiculous those rules are and I need to LIVE!  =)  Roller coaster ride!  Am I the only one??
Is anyone like me and "on track" for a few weeks, see results, but can't live like that?  Or maybe you're good all week, go for it all on the weekends?  Good all day, but watch out at night?  Are you SICK AND TIRED of yo yo diets or trying the latest fad?  ME TOO!!!  My JAM is BALANCE!  I haven't always had it in my life but that's what I strive for because when I don't focus on my food and what I CANT have, I do my best!  When I try to limit, it's all I can think about and truly it doesn't make me happy so I often choose fitness over nutrition...until now!
I feel like this program is made for me!  BALANCE...NOTHING off limits...PEACE with your food!  Can I get an amen?!  I mean... for real!  I am SO DARN EXCITED!!!!! My friends who were in the test group got AMAZING results and they've tried everything from weight watchers, keto diet, our container system, if it fits your macros, interment fasting, etc...said they feel so free because there's no planing/prepping, calorie counting, measuring/weighting food, or point counting, just taking the steering wheel with a healthy mindset and balance in life!  FREEDOM!!!!!!
With this program, fitness is NOT required but is considered a bonus and encouraged so if you're doing Beachbody home workouts, Crossfit, Orange Theory, 9Round, running, etc. that's great and keep going girlfriend, but for those of you just getting started, leave the fitness for later boo!  Yup, that's right, you can loose weight without sweating it out and dealing with a food approved list!
Here's a short intro video to see a little more about the program:

Remember those friends I mentioned above?  Here's a coach on my team, Leah, who was a part of the text group and did a training for us coaches...if you want to watch it until about the 19 minute mark you'll hear all about her journey!

Want to see more about what you get?  Watch this video for details:

If you're ready to see results and feel freedom with your nutrition...join me in our group so we can make this mind-shift together!!  I can't wait and would LOVE to have you join me!  Comment below or email me at kristinkfitness@gmail.com to get started and join our virtual community of other mindset shifters!!

80 Day Obsession Banana Apple Muffins

Delicious and nutritious!!!

I made these for the kids and I this week and despite the fact that I need to work on my “dash” of salt (because I apparently I got a little too carried away and my first batch tasted like “dinner” according to my 8 year old, haha!) they are really good!!  As you can see from my ingredients picture below, I was trying to do a batch and a half so I think that's why I overcompensated on the salt...second batch was way better (I followed the instructions below!) and a win for us all!

If you’re on the 80 Day Obsession eating plan they count as a blue and purple which is so exciting because it feels like a yellow but you still have room for more carbs!! #winning

Give them a try, careful with the salt, and let me know what you think!

Ingredients:
  1. 2 eggs
  2. 2 bananas
  3. 1 Tbsp melted butter
  4. 1.5 cups almond flour
  5. 3/4 tsp. baking soda
  6. dash sea salt (careful now!)
  7. 1/2 chopped apple

Directions
Mix wet ingredients in one bowl, dry ingredients in another and then blend together. Fold in apples and put in muffin tin. Makes about 9 muffins. Bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes! ENJOY!!
