Let’s be honest, nothing tastes as good as real cookie dough! I could literally sit down with a spoon and eat it from the bowl, or pre packaged roll...I'm not picky!
But we all know we can't indulge in that too often (how dare you say not at all!) so a substitute that's similar to yummy cookie dough is a winner in my book!
Although, let’s not call this a substitute, because there's nothing like the real thing...let’s call it a healthstitute... AKA a healthier option to the original foods you love!
So here is a healthstitute dessert for your sweet tooth or it makes a perfect after school snack for the kids!
Ingredients
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1 1/2 Tbsp coconut flour (I added 1/2 a scoop of vanilla superfoods instead to give it a kick of veggies and up the health value! This is optional but email or comment below if you'd like details about it!)
- 3 Tbsp coconut oil
- 3 Tbsp maple sugar
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 3 Tbsp unsweetened almond milk
- 1/4 tsp fine grain sea salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (dark chocolate is best!)
Optional: We thought the consistency needed to be a little smoother so we added a spoonful of peanut butter and thought that was exactly what it needed! Try it first and then decide!
Instructions
- Combine ingredients, leaving out chocolate chips, and mix well until a smooth dough forms.
- Stir in the chocolate chips to combine, then chill the dough for at least 15 minutes for ideal texture - I prefer this cookie dough after it chills for about an hour!
- Roll into balls or eat with a spoon! Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, or freeze to keep longer. Enjoy!
